RE/BUILD: A Collaborative Design Exhibition Opening Night: May 15, 2009 Due to renovations, Gallery 1889 will be closed until further notice.

The RE/BUILD challenge is to design, develop and construct using only materials and resources at the MPS shop. The collaborative exhibition features furniture, sculpture, and objects of intrigue from six NY-based designers and architects: David Scott of DESU Design, Matter Practice, Simon Eisinger of L/E/D, Dan Harper, John Seward, and Elizabeth Cordes.

Greenpoint Open Studios & the Lewis Canfield collection September 26th-29th

As part of Greenpoint Open Studios, Gallery 1889 will show select works from local artists through September. On view will also be a preview of the Lewis Canfield collection. Opening on September 26th from 6-8PM. Everyone is welcome to stop by during GOS from Sept. 26th-29th.

SUMMER DESIGN SALE July 24th-26th

Since its opening, Gallery 1889 is quickly becoming a locus of interest for the North Brooklyn art scene. Continuing this trend of showing innovative and beautifully manufactured design pieces, Gallery 1889 will host a summer sale on the weekend of July 25th. We invited local artists and designers to share in this space and bring their work to the community. Participants include Design Glut,Jean Pelle, DESU Design, Sonic NY, Dan Harper, furthurdesign, ALS Designs, DYAD Studio, UM Project, Domestic Aesthetic, Perch!, and more.

RE/PAINT Fundraiser for NbPac

North Brooklyn Public Art Coalition (NbPac) proudly presents RE/PAINT RE/BUILD, a benefit for the India Street Mural Project June 24th, 7pm – 11pm $20

This project is the kickoff project for the North Brooklyn Public Art Coalition (NbPac). The benefit will feature local food and drink, music, live screenprinting, haircuts, and a silent auction. All proceeds will go to benefit the India Street Mural Project and NbPac. Thanks to everyone for making this a success!
